What type of battery capacity does LIFESABER have?
LIFESABER will come equipped with a fairly typical 2200 mAh capacity Replaceable Battery, type Li-ion 18650. We’re hoping to design the circuitry to also handle a much higher capacity battery (also built to the 18650 format). In which case – before fulfillment next fall - we’ll offer our backers the option to pay a bit more in order to upgrade to the more powerful battery.

How much do the snap-in modules weigh? Is it lightweight?
The UV snap-in module will weigh no more than 3 oz, while the firestarter will come in at less than 2 oz. These crucial accessories are lightweight because the battery, display, controls and certain electronics are already built into the main body of the LIFESABER.

Is LIFESABER waterproof?
The LIFESABER is designed to meet or exceed the IP67 standard for water resistance. This means that the tool should function normally even after a dunking. But while watertight, we’re not yet sure if the LIFESABER will float.

Does a UV light actually purify enough to make water safe to drink?
UV light has long been established as an effective means to sterilize water, so long as the water is clear (so light can reach the germs) and you maintain exposure for enough time to work which is dependent on the size and volume of the container. Our UV sterilizer will come with very detailed instructions for safe use.

I'm confused... will a Micro USB charging cord be provided or a Mini USB one?
For recharging the LIFESABER from a wall outlet (or solar panel) we will be using the popular Micro USB standard, rather than the Mini standard as mentioned elsewhere on this site. We’ll get busy fixing all of the erroneous references. The LIFESABER will ship with a Micro USB charging cord.

How long will the replaceable #18650 type Li-ion battery last?
As a rule of thumb, these standard batteries can be recharged hundreds of times and will hold their charge for about a year. But there are other factors, including the operating temperature. And eventually, every battery eventually dies (can no longer be recharged).
This is why we’ve made the batteries replaceable. More important, the LIFESABER will work to restart your phone even if the LIFESABER’s own battery is no longer able to take a charge.

15 oz. for the standalone device, roughly 20 including the accessories. Though we’re working to bring down the weight of the LIFESABER as well as the snap-in modules.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
